Dan Atkinson

Dan Atkinson Dan Atkinson is a stand-up comedian, comedy writer and TV producer. Currently he is producing the new BBC 3 comedy show ‘Live at the Electric’.

He was one of the core writers on the first five series of the BBC hit show Russell Howard’s Good News.

In February 2010 he was nominated as best UK compere in the Chortle Awards.

In 2010/11, Dan Atkinson was chosen as the warm-up for Stephen Merchant’s solo live shows in London.

In August 2009 he performed his Edinburgh Festival Show ‘Death by a Thousand Pricks’. It was the first actually decent show he’d written, and did well.

In 2008 he was part of the prestigious nationwide ‘Edinburgh & Beyond‘ tour.

Dan’s Edinburgh Show ‘The Credit Crunch and other Biscuits’ in the same year sold every single ticket and garnered some fairly decent reviews, despite being slightly undercooked.

TV credits include Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC 3), Most Irritating People (BBC THREE), Law of the Playground (Channel 4), Tony and June on T4 (Channel 4), and Bodyhits (BBC THREE). You will notice a credibility drop-off in that list but that’s to be expected.

The first three years saw Dan Atkinson progress from his residency at York’s ‘The Other Side’ comedy club, to performing in The Comedy Zone in 2006, to performing his first solo Edinburgh Show in 2007: ‘Dan Atkinson Knows that he Knows Nothing’ to sell-out audiences. Dan has also headlined gigs across Britain and performed worldwide, including Miami, Singapore, Bahrain and Switzerland.

He has done TV Warm-up for programmes such as ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks‘, ‘Bremner, Bird and Fortune‘, ‘The Late Edition’ and ‘Deal or No Deal‘ among others. But he doesn’t particularly enjoy doing that.
