Alistair McGowan is a cherished household name, a master impressionist, a stand-up comic, an actor, a pianist, a writer of sketches, articles, stage and radio plays but is still probably best known to British audiences for ‘The Big Impression’ which was, for four years, one of BBC1′s top-rating comedy programmes – winning numerous awards, including a BAFTA. In 2017 Sony Classical released ’Alistair McGowan; The Piano Album’ which went to Number One in The Official Classical Charts and no 2 in the Classic FM chart and was John Brunning’s Album of The Week. He has just released his second album.

Alistair is a keen environmentalist and has campaigned on behalf of Sustrans, The Woodland Trust, Trees for Cities and Recycle Now. He is an Ambassador for WWF-UK, and proud to declare he has never owned a car.

Alter Ego, 2DTV, The Impressionable Jon Culshaw, and Dead Ringers

Jon was the winner of Radio 1′s Talent ’93 competition. A year later he was providing the voices to over 40 characters on Spitting Image. He hit the headlines after making a hoax call to British Prime Minister Tony Blair, while pretending to be William Hague, the leader of the Conservative Party. Jon told the prime minister he had bought him a Cher fitness video at a car-boot sale.

His impersonation of Michael Buerk on a mobile phone commercial was a bit too realistic – people kept approaching the newsreader thinking he had done the advert himself.

Jon Culshaw once went to St James’s Palace and performed in front of the Prince of Wales to celebrate The Archers’ 50th anniversary. Jon did an impression of the Prince of Wales: “This wonderful soap opera, with its myriad rich and colourful characters. But that’s enough about my family.” The Prince said afterwards how hard it was to follow Jon’s faultless imitation.

He was awarded his own radio series Dead Ringers, which has won the British Comedy Award for ‘Best Radio Comedy’, the Sony Gold Radio Academy Award and the Broadcasting Press Guild Award for ‘Best Radio Programme’. Due to its phenomenal success it transferred from Radio 4 to BBC television. Jon also has a multitude of other television credits to his name including Alter Ego, 2DTV and The Impressionable Jon Culshaw.
