Howard Read is an award-winning writer, animator, song-writer and comedy performer. He has written and illustrated two children’s books and toured his unique theatre Big Howard Little Howard shows all over the country and all over the world, effortlessly flitting between adult, family and corporate audiences, and almost never saying the wrong word at any of them.

Howard started out as a stand-up comic after leaving university in 1996. He soon established himself one of the circuit’s most original voices mixing left-field rambling with bombastic comic songs. His epic, and frankly revolting Mrs Grimshaw show-stopper won him a Fringe Choice Award and got a rapturous response on Spanking New (Radio 7).

Once established as a comedy circuit regular Howard’s started dabbling with animation. He created and wrote two series of comic shorts called Bird On A Wire with the production company Ha Ha Bonk, which were bought by UK Play and Paramount Comedy. Then, with his writing partner Chris Chantler he created The Two Posh Old Men which he animated himself, and were bought by UK Play, and later UKG2. In 2001 his comic animated short Polar Bears In A Snowstorm won a BBC New Comedy Award For Animation.

2002 saw the arrival of Howard’s best-known character, Little Howard. Created as an experiment for his debut Edinburgh Fringe show Words and Pictures in 2002 Little Howard was an instant success, selling out, garnering five-star reviews and winning them a development deal with Tiger Aspect Productions.

Their second show, The Big Howard Little Howard Show was the only British nomination for the 2003 Perrier Award and was snapped up by comedy festivals in New York, Aspen and Melbourne. They appeared on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno in the US and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala in Australia.

They started creating bespoke interactive animated shows for corporate events, performing for The Association Of Investment Trust Companies, The Police Super Intendants Of England And Wales, Head Teachers conferences, breweries and hosting awards ceremonies for digital media awards and marketeers.

Family entertainment seemed to be beckoning and in 2006 Howard experimented with adapting his The Big Howard Little Howard Show for a family theatre audience, and it was an instant hit on tour. So he created Little Howard And The Magic Pencil Of Life And Death for the 2007 Edinburgh Fringe. By the end of the year Howard was in talks with CBBC about making a series for them, and was asked to perform on The Royal Variety Performance, along side Bon Jovi, Enrique Iglesias, Russell Brand, Joan Rivers and Al Murray.

Also in 2007 Big Howard and Little Howard were nominated for Best Children’s Show at the Brighton Fringe, and won the Best Family Show award at the Buxton Fringe. Howard’s hugely popular Unpleasant Lullaby was turned into Little Howard’s Unpleasant Lullaby and published by The Friday Project imprint of Harper Collins, which Howard also illustrated.

2008 saw Big Howard and Little Howard’s first appearance live on the sofa of ITV’s flagship daytime show This Morning. They also toured Magic Pencil, and and took it to The Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and the New Zealand International Comedy Festival where they repeated the sofa-appearing trick on New Zealand’s top current affairs show Campbell Live and STV’s flagship magazine program The Hour.

Big Howard and Little Howard then created a brand new theatre piece Little Howard’s Big Show, made a second appearance on This Morning (possibly inducing labour in Holly Willoughby) and with Chris Chantler wrote and illustrated Little Howard’s Big Book (Friday Project/Harper Collins), and released Wait Kate! It’s Not Too Late! a download single trying to convince Kate Middleton to marry him instead of Prince Philip. 2011 also saw Big Howard and Little Howard’s first appearance in Panto and Little Howard became the first fully animated cartoon character ever to appear on a panto stage (we think).

Howard is currently touring Little Howard’s Big Show around the theatres of Britain, gigging as a stand-up, writing comic songs and developing various TV and radio ideas. These include Little Howard projects and a potential animated series with the producers of the CBBC’s smash-hit Horrible Histories. Howard is writing for the new CBBC sketch show Fit.

In 2012 Little Howard will celebrate his 10th, 6th birthday, and to mark this slightly confusing milestone, he has evolved. He can now be voiced and animated in real-time allowing him to lead a sing-along in panto, perform topical and bespoke stand-up sets at corporate events, compere comedy gigs, present live TV programmes, and interview, and be interviewed in real time, reacting audiences and interviewers live. Watch this space.

From the outset Noel was described as “the country’s finest emerging stand-up talent” (Comedy Review Magazine) and throughout his career in which he has notched up 7 years of solid experience he is considered “something of a hot property” (Venue Magazine) within the comedy world.

As well as performing in the famous Comedy Store and Jongleurs his clients also extend to numerous corporate events including IBM, HP, Pentel, Pictet Swiss Bank Corporation and Hamptons where his quick witted observational comedy has entertained executives all around the world. He is regularly invited to perform in the USA, Australia, Hong Kong, Dubai and Canada at a variety of events including The Sydney International Festival in Australia, The Nova Scotia Comedy Festival in Canada, The Oerol Festival in Holland and of course The Edinburgh Festival in Scotland. Noel’s work has also been featured on Channel 4 and BBC.

In the West Country, he is well known for his Bizarre Bath comedy tours of his home City of Bath that have run nightly throughout the summer for the last 10 years. It has been recommended by all the major tourist books (“a great idea, superbly executed, and should be on every visitor’s itinerary” Choice Travel Guide), TV Travel shows (“brilliantly unforgettable” BBC’s Holiday Show), and has now reached the status of a “must do” for many visitors to Bath.

Noel’s quick witted dry humour defies all expectations. He executes his fast paced one liners with razor sharp precision firing his wit into the audience to create an atmosphere that can only be produced by a seasoned professional.

The international award-winning Olé is a Latin music comedy explosion which will have the audience laughing tears of excitement and dancing wildly in the aisles.

“A real treat, funny, unpredictable and spectacular!” – DAILY TELEGRAPH

Paul Morocco and his “Amigos” are, without doubt, extremely skilled maniacs, their guitars full of fire, cheeks full of ping pong balls, and their musical souls full of songs. They entertain, amaze, and surprise with a truly mind-blowing fusion of rhythm, comedy, flamenco madness and fruit that is already a smash hit around the world.

“A thrilling show frequently reminiscent of watching some manic foreign film without subtitles” – EVENING STANDARD

Olé has all the exhilarating sounds from the rhythms of flamenco to salsa, swing, blues, jazz and pop. Three Latin machos, full of fire, fight for their pride while playing, spinning and throwing their Spanish guitars, taking their audience on a formidable musical journey ending in a grande fiesta.

PAUL MOROCCO – The original creator is the mad Cassablancan himself. Grew up in Virginia USA, his mother from Morocco, his father Cajun, from New Orleans. He left his own country and travelled to Europe as a street performer, later performing on the cabaret circuit and then on to worldwide theatre. An extraordinary performer, an accomplished musician and a truly flamboyant character.

GUILLERMO DE ENDAYA – Born in Bilbao, Spain, he started playing guitar when he was 14. Later on he studied music at the Conservatiory in Leioa and then went on to lead several bands in Spain and Germany as a singer, guitarist and composer.

ANTONIO GOMEZ – Born in Cuba to the sounds of Salsa rhythms, he has been playing guitar and singing since a young boy. He travelled Europe and studied Flamenco and other musical styles to compliment his own natural salsa rhythm.

“If you haven’t seen them before, go! If you have, go again!” – THE INDEPENDENT

Winner of America’s Got Talent – Paul Zerdin and his dysfunctional puppet family are back by popular demand. His brand-new tour, Paul Zerdin’s – Puppet Party, includes everyone’s favourites Sam, Albert and Baby, there’ll be his new bodyguard, an urban fox, some hilarious audience participation – and a talking ice cream! All using a mixture of master puppeteering, state of the art animatronic wizardry and a unique blend of edgy comedy.

It’s a quirk of British theatre that a man can get a standing ovation for spending the best part of 75 minutes on a stage talking to himself. It goes without saying that Paul’s skills are top notch – there’s not a hint of movement from his lips and he has a strong command of a range of different voices. But it’s his control of the puppets and sense of timing that brings his characters to life!

Zerdin wasn’t available for comment but his character Sam in his absence said: “It’s so exciting to be back on the road in the UK. We’ve played Hollywood, New York, Vegas and now…Bedford! I just hope we can all get through the tour without a big bust up like last time!”

Paul made his TV debut in 1996 as the first outright winner of LWT’s The Big Big Talent Show, hosted by Jonathan Ross. Since then he has appeared on countless TV shows including Comedy Central’s The World Stands Up, ITV1′s Comedy Rocks with Jason Manford, Tonight at The London Palladium, The Princes Trust Gala and has made three appearances at The Royal Variety Performance. His auditions for America’s Got Talent have racked up millions of views on YouTube and Paul is currently developing TV projects in both the UK and the US.

He took a Las Vegas residency at the legendary Planet Hollywood with his hit show Mouthing Off, and toured the UK with All Mouth in 2017. Paul is a regular feature at The London Palladium annual pantomime

“Every now and then you stumble across a finished article, a show so polished it shines. Paul Zerdin: Sponge Fest is one of these shows. A ventriloquist at the top of his game, Zerdin is so sure of his skills and so in control of his material that he isn’t just performing – he’s showing off, clearly having as much of a laugh as his audience.”
- The Scotsman

He is a Gold Star member of the Inner Magic Circle and has just been voted the best ventriloquist in his family.

Quotes:

“Just to underline that the big names were not going to get it all their own way, the loudest applause went to Paul Zerdin who is reviving the unfashionable art of ventriloquism“- The Times

“If you think the words ‘brilliant’ and ‘ventriloquist’ have no place in the same sentence, go and see Paul Zerdin for some brutal re-education” – Evening Standard

“The best ventriloquist Britain has discovered for many years, who has mastered the knack of being acceptable to both comedy club and family audiences” – The Stage

Edinburgh Fringe Favourite, Piff the Magic Dragon is an award-winning stand up act, combining delightfully deadpan charm and stunning magic.

He has appeared in the West End as part of La Soiree (formerly La Clique), embarked on a sell-out run in Australia, and is currently on a fifty-date UK theatre tour as part of An Evening of Burlesque, selling over 30,000 tickets at venues including the O2 and Blackpool Grand. Piff’s recent appearance on Penn and Teller: Fool Us was an instant hit, going viral and racking up half a million views on YouTube in three days. He returns to Edinburgh this summer with his new show Last of the Magic Dragons.

A staple of the UK cabaret scene, Piff is a former Hackney Empire New Act of the Year finalist and has performed at The Comedy Store. He has supported some of the biggest names in comedy including Simon Amstell, Jessica Hynes and Stephen Merchant. In 2010 he was handed his own residency, Brunchtime at Piffanys, at Circus in Covent Garden.

Piff’s debut show, Piff-Tacular, scooped Buxton Fringe Festival’s Best Comedy award and broke the Edinburgh Free Fringe record for highest box office take in a single night. He returned the following year with PIFF-TACULAR 2: Get Rich or Die Trying at Just the Tonic, awarded ‘Top Three Picks of the Fringe’ by The One Show, BBC.

Every hero needs a sidekick, and it was during 2009 that Piff acquired Mr Piffles, the World’s First Levitating Chihuahua. Inseparable ever since, little Piffilicious now earns his kibble charming damsels up and down the country and relieving himself on any microphone stands that get in the way.

Piff is the creation of John van der Put, The Magic Circle Close-up Magician of the year 2011 and an award-winning contemporary magician for the past fifteen years. The hit of the party, according to Sir Ian McKellen, John is one of the youngest magicians ever to lecture at The Magic Circle, and was crowned IBM Close-Up Champion in 2009. He has also created magic for David Blaine, Heston Blumenthal and the National Theatre.
