Winner Time Out Stand Up Comic of the Year
Yorkshireman, occasional marathon runner, and sometime radio and TV presenter Paul Tonkinson is also an established and popular stand up star. A former Time Out ‘Comedian of the Year’, with deadpan northern charm and infectious energy, Paul leads audiences on a crash course in the north-south divide, the curious differences between male and female logic, and the (sometimes real) characters that have populated his life. A sought after headliner across the Uk and international circuit, Paul is also in great demand as a corporate entertainer and awards host.
TV wise, he recently performed a storming set on Michael Mcintyre’s Comedy Roadshow, and has also performed on The Comedy Store and The World Stands-Up for Comedy Central. He was recently a contestant on Ch 4`s hit show Celebrity Come Dine With Me, scooping first place and winning the cash prize for his chosen charity. He`s also cropped up on various panel and list shows (covering everything from the 100 Greatest Cartoons to the Greatest World Cup Moments), and was the inaugural breakfast show presenter on Xfm Manchester, before moving to the London sister station.
Paul is a regular UK Armed Forces performer, and was the first comic to perform in Iraq after the war was declared over. Playing to 2,500 troops in 45 degree heat in the middle of the desert, with tanks on either side of the stage and accompanied by four dancers and a Bee Gees tribute band, means he`s pretty much prepared for any live experience. Paul has performed all over the world, from Montreal to Singapore and Dubai; and as well as Iraq, he has entertained the troops in Afghanistan, the Falkland Islands, Malta, Kosovo and Egypt.
A first class act, one of the most esteemed performers working on the UK comedy circuit, with a bullet-proof set and a plethora of universally funny material.
