It`s been a phenomenal few years for charismatic wordsmith Tom Wrigglesworth. His critically acclaimed showTom Wrigglesworth`s Open Return Letter To Richard Branson was the buzz hit show of the Edinburgh festival in 2009.A complete sell-out sensation, the show was nominated for the coveted EDINBURGH COMEDY AWARD and received tremendouscritical acclaim and countless 5 star reviews. Tom went on to tour the show nationally, performing to sell-outaudiences across the country. He also accepted invitations to perform at the prestigious New Zealand and MontrealComedy Festivals.
On TV, Tom was also one of the presenters on the recent BBC 4 series Electric Dreams – a show which enabled Tomto indulge his inner geek, exploring how the technological revolution of the 70`s, 80`s and 90`s has transformedBritain`s homes. The series was well-received and later transferred to BBC 2. Tom has also performed stand-up on Edinburgh Comedy Fest Live, Russell Howard`s Good News and The Comedy Gala for BBC Three as well as The World Stand`s Up,two series of The Comedy Store and Edinburgh and Beyond – all for Comedy Central.
He has also has guested on BBC Radio 4`s Loose Ends, Newsquiz, The Unbelievable Truth, The Now Show, Act Your Age,It`s Your Round, The Infinite Monkey Cage and You & Yours as well as BBC Radio 2`s Out To Lunch and Claudia Winkleman`s Arts Show.
Following the success of the live show, Tom Wrigglesworth`s Open Return Letter to Richard Branson was commissioned for a Radio 4 pilot.A series was commissioned soon after and transmitted on Radio 4 in the spring of 2010. In the four-part series Tom Wrigglesworth`s Open Letters,Tom once again tackled consumer issues with by writing to figure heads or `captains of industry`, and venting spleen over topics suchas traffic wardens, estate agents, energy suppliers, and bank managers using real life stories to highlight the grievances people sufferat the hands of consumer stalwarts. The series was met with great critical acclaim, and scooped a prestigious Sony Radio Academy Award.Tom is now working on series 2 of Open Letters for Radio 4 which is due to be recorded in the spring of next year.
